Recruiting newcomer immigrant and refugee youth for this wonderful opportunity
We are looking for young refugees and newcomer immigrants in the KW area to participate in a one-day youth engagement workshop. The Studio Impact program is a curriculum development program aiming to train diverse groups of middle and high school students that have been identified as ‘disengaged’ in the language of systems thinking and community-oriented citizenship. The project is funded by Trillium and supported by the Waterloo Institute for Social Innovation and Resilience. Through a number of workshop-style sessions, the main concepts we introduce and delve into with the participants include mental models, chaordic and participatory leadership, leverage & influence, and communities as systems. Studio Impact aims to create a welcoming environment that encourages participatory learning and having fun without losing intention.
In your capacity working with young people in our community, would you be able to recruit 4-5 grade 9 or 10 students to attend the next Studio Impact workshop? We are hoping to make this workshop focused on refugees and newcomer immigrants, giving young people an opportunity to voice their concerns on various issues that these populations may face. Bus tickets will be provided upon request for those who need them, and lunch and a morning snack will be provided. The program will be offered free of charge.
